Haylie Robinson’s passion for media and community storytelling took flight during her time as a student at Heidelberg University, where she was highly engaged in campus life and media. Today, Robinson, class of ’15, is an award-winning TV producer, media executive and creator of Finding Festivals, the national PBS series that explores, celebrates and shares diverse community traditions through storytelling.
On Thursday, Aug. 22, Haylie will return to where it all began, Heidelberg, to help her alma mater officially kick off the 2024-25 academic year. She will serve as the keynote speaker for one of Heidelberg’s longest-standing traditions: Opening Convocation.
Haylie currently serves as host and producer on the Buckeye Community Arts Network, where she continues to engage a broad audience across her social media platforms and through Finding Festivals.
Haylie is especially proud of Finding Festivals, the goal of which is to “educate and unite viewers by highlighting the unique spirit of communities across the United States, mirroring the community values that I cherished during my time at Heidelberg.”
Her broadcasting career took off when she joined WTOL 11 in Toledo, quickly becoming recognized as the top “Media Personality” in The Blade’s Readers Choice 2022.
As a ‘Berg student, Haylie was a member of the Philalethean Society and Greek Life Council, where she honed her leadership and service skills. She served as co-host and producer of Insight at The Berg, a student-run talk show that explored campus life and broader societal issues. She also contributed to Heidelberg’s radio station, WHEI 88.9, where she was an on-air talent, served as the music and promotions director and was recognized with the Novice DJ Award her freshman year.
Since graduation, Haylie has remained engaged with Heidelberg. She has returned to campus to speak at events and mentor students, reflecting her commitment to nurturing the next generation of media professionals.
We look forward to welcoming Haylie to campus and look forward to her inspiring words to help students -- especially incoming freshmen -- start the academic year on a successful note!
