Earlier this week, the Heidelberg University volleyball team was selected as an AVCA Team Academic Award winner for their combined efforts in the classroom during the 2018-19 academic year.
The award, given by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA on a 4.0 scale.
This season, the Student Princes were part of a record-breaking number of 1,126 teams to have earned the award. Furthermore, the mark is the eighth time Heidelberg has earned the award, and the second year in a row after also being selected in 2018.
Seven members of the 2018 squad were selected as Academic All-OAC recipients to lead the team to this honor. Additionally, senior Taylor Arbogast was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District second team honoree last season.
Heidelberg will start their 2019 season in just 37 days in Elmhurst, Illinois vs. Aurora University.
