AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Four members of the Heidelberg University softball team have been selected as All-Ohio Athletic Conference, as announced on Monday.
Senior catcher Kaitlin Keys led the honors by being named to the first team. In her first-ever all-conference selection, Keys hit .340 and slugged a team-high 14 doubles. She drove in 18 runs and caught 11 runners stealing on the season.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Moore was a second team pick. As a force in the circle and at the plate, Moore played a key role in HU's success this year. Moore hit .358, driving in 30 runs and belting nine home runs. On the mound, the sophomore posted a 14-8 record, fanning 127 hitters and an ERA of 2.89.
Seniors Haylee Patel and Renee Lovett were named to the honorable mention.
Starting all 41 games in centerfield, Patel hit .349 with 25 RBI and a team-high five triples. She also stole eight bases while fielding a 1.000 clip.
Lovett's third All-OAC selection comes from a season where she hit .333 and swiped a team-leading 10 bases. She drove in 12 runs while adding seven doubles.
After qualifying for their fourth straight OAC Tournament, HU fell in the semifinals to Otterbein. Heidelberg finished the year with a 26-15 record, its fifth consecutive 20+ win season.
