Heidelberg University invites the community to its annual Veterans Day tribute to those who have served. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Monday (Nov. 12) in front of Beeghly Library on Greenfield Street.
The program will include remarks and reflections by Heidelberg alumnus and Vietnam War veteran Ron Willoughby, class of ’68, who will share his experiences as a member of the decorated 5th Marine Regiment Sniper Platoon.
Heidelberg President Rob Huntington will give a welcome, and the ceremony also will include presentation of the colors by the United Veterans Council, the singing of the National Anthem, a 21-gun salute and a closing prayer, led by Rev. Paul Sittason Stark, campus chaplain and director of religious life and civic engagement. Heidelberg’s Student Senate is coordinating the event.
Rain site is Wickham Great Hall in the Campus Center. Refreshments will be served inside Beeghly Library following the ceremony.
