Now officially members of the Heidelberg family, the Class of 2022 brings great energy, diversity and experiences to the Heidelberg campus. A deeper dive into the demographics of the class reveal some interesting statistics about the class’s makeup:
- 5% are from Tiffin
- 7% are Heidelberg legacies
- 13% are in the Honors Program
- 20% are from out of state
- 20% are Scholars Day participants
- 20% are from underrepresented populations
- 43% are females
- 57% are males
- 57% are first-generation college students
- 70% want to play a Division III sport
And finally, 100% are ready to succeed at Heidelberg. That’s according to President Rob Huntington, who was among ’Berg community to officially welcome the 333 first-year and 30 transfer students to campus.
Academically, the class is gifted as well, with 30 new students entering Heidelberg with 4.0 GPAs in high school. The average GPA of the class is 3.42.
Geographically, Heidelberg welcomes undergrads from 17 states: Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida (24 students), Georgia, Illinois, (2 students), Indiana (6 students), Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland (2 students), Michigan (14 students), Nebraska, Oregon, Pennsylvania (2 students) and Texas (4 students). And from the great state of Ohio: 268 students.
Transfer students are from Alabama, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Nevada, Texas and Ohio.
International students have arrived from eight countries: Argentina, China, Colombia, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Norway and Spain.
