Tiffin is home away from home for ‘Berg students for a short four years. More and more, the city is growing and improving with great new offerings and opportunities for college students and residents, such as Chipotle and Tim Horton’s!
Students new to Heidelberg begin to explore downtown Tiffin for the first time when they participate in the Around the Town event, which is hosted jointly with Tiffin University at a downtown location. The connection between the city and the two universities provide unique partnerships for the students and the community.
The newest project is the Rock Creek Trail, completed in September, is a 1.5-mile paved trail that winds from Calvert High School in downtown Tiffin, along the scenic Rock Creek, through Heidelberg’s campus and ends at Hedges-Boyer Park. It provides another safe option for students and residents to walk, run or bike. It also provides convenient access to Peaceful and Hidden Valley, Heidelberg’s baseball, softball and soccer complexes and another route to the local YMCA.
A great deal of the credit for the growth goes to youthful Mayor Aaron Montz, who’s in his second term and also happens to be an ’07 ‘Berg alum. Another ‘Berg alum, Bryce Riggs ’16, turned an internship at the Seneca Industrial & Economic Development Corp. into a full-time job as SIEDC’s development coordinator. Bryce helped come up with the Top 5 list of upcoming projects that make Tiffin an even better home away from home:
