John Imah
Innovative Technology Expert
John Imah discovered his passion for technology at a young age. He was 5 years old when his parents purchased the first computer for his family’s household. He was instantly enamored. He found a screwdriver and disassembled the entire thing. The sight of their brand-new computer in pieces on the floor infuriated his parents, who gave him the afternoon to reflect on his actions by going to the movies, but not before demanding that he find a solution before they returned. He was scared and unsure of what to do. He cried, but was an intelligent and determined child, so after a few hours, he had reassembled his first computer.
John is a former executive leader at Snap Inc., serving as the Global Head of Partnerships, reporting to Snap's C-suite executive leader. He founded and was in charge of the company's global partnerships, strategy and business development team, which included gaming, augmented reality commerce and shopping, brands and entertainment. He scaled these teams from zero to one globally in accordance with business requirements, resulting in millions of dollars in revenue and user engagement.
He has also served as an executive leader at some of the biggest tech companies in the world, including Meta and Amazon/Twitch. He was named Meta's Partnerships organization's top employee with a "high impact" for exceeding internal targets and redefining expectations. In previous years, John co-founded two start-up companies that were later sold privately. He also sits on the boards of multiple companies and is an advisor to several of Hollywood's A-list celebrities, including Kevin Hart, Martin Lawrence, Diddy and many others.
John's mission is to continue influencing the world through innovative technology while inspiring more people of color to enter the technology industry. He lives by the phrase “Aspire to inspire before you expire,” which means to positively influence an individual into action so that they fulfill their innermost desires before leaving this earth. He has been featured in national publications such as USA Today, Fortune, Variety, Mashable, Complex, The Verge, Fast Company, Tech Crunch, Ad Week, PC Magazine and BBC News.
