The high-energy choreography of the Hei-Notes, Heidelberg University’s show choir, will meet the sweet sounds of the Jazz Ensemble in a performance on the Gundlach Theatre stage at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 22.
Under the direction of Dr. Margaret Thiele, the Hei-Notes (formerly the Singing Collegians), will perform a series of contemporary numbers around the theme “Songs of Courage,” including “Opening Up” from the musical “Waitress” and “Everybody Says Don’t” from the musical “Anyone Can Whistle.” The Hei-Notes’ repertoire also includes “Some Nights,” “Always Starting Over” from the musical “If/Then,” “Imagine” and “I’m Still Standing.” Accompanists will be Curtis King along with the Jazz Ensemble.
The Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Scott Kretzer, adjunct instructor of music, also will perform “Blue Madness” by Doug Beach, “Hayburner” by Sammy Nestico, “One Mint Julep” by Rudolph Toombs, “Jeannine” by Duke Pearson and Running of the Bulls by Beach and George Shutack.
