Applied Lesson Instructor for Piano
Heidelberg University has a NASM accredited Community Music School (CMS), that provides private lessons, classes, ensembles, theatre productions and a yearly summer camp for Seneca County and beyond. The CMS is a prime recruitment tool for Heidelberg University, as we have a 65% conversion rate of CMS participants to Heidelberg students. The CMS also advocates for the arts and arts education in rural Ohio, supporting local schools and building our community of future artists and art consumers.
In addition to the arts outreach and recruitment initiatives, the CMS supports the curricular excellence within the School of Music and Theatre. The CMS provides field placement hours for our Music Education and Theatre education students, along with internships and work study positions for all SMT students. Upper-class students can petition to teach private lessons within the SMT, provide teaching experience and compensation as powerful retention initiatives.
