Biochemistry and Biology Major
I chose Heidelberg because I liked the small school atmosphere and the opportunities the science department had with the animal lab and cadaver lab.
I majored in biochemistry and biology because I want to go into veterinary medicine.
A major challenge I encountered while at Heidelberg was holding multiple executive positions for clubs on campus and having multiple jobs on campus at the same time, and I handled it by using time management and support from the people around me.
Above all, Heidelberg prepared me to take all of the opportunities you can get while you have the chance to pursue them.
Outside of the classroom, I was involved in Delta Sigma Chi, ACS Chemistry Club, Tri-Beta, Sig Hons, and Rho's Buds.
My favorite extra-curricular activity was Delta Sigma Chi because it helped me find my home on campus.
One faculty or staff mentor or advisor who impacted my ‘Berg experience is Dr. Aaron Roerdink because he was always there to help me when I needed him.
My advice to new freshman me would be get involved in different things on campus early on. It truly helps you find your home away from home.
My favorite Heidelberg memories are all the good memories from the Delt events and Chem Club trips.
My plans after graduation are to work as a Tech 1 in Technical Operations at Charles River Laboratories in Ashland, Ohio.
