Pat Page
Administrative Assistant for the School of Music & Theatre
We had our senior skip day in high school and if we didn’t do something productive with our day, we would get a suspension. A couple of my girlfriends and I came to Tiffin and went around town to fill out applications, just to show we did something with our day. We only stopped at two or three places and Heidelberg was one of them. We just filled out the applications and went on our merry way.
I totally forgot about it until they called our house when I was at school. They said they wanted to interview me. I don’t think the other girls with me got interviews. When I came to interview, I walked into Jeannine Curns’ office and Ronda Winkler was sitting at the desk. Ronda had just started; we’ve been here about the same amount of time. There was a huge stack of applications and, of course, mine was at the very bottom. After she found it, I interviewed with Jeannine and Dr. (Ferris) Ohl. Among other things, I typed at a typewriter with Dr. Ohl standing over my shoulder. It was a little intimidating. I went back and told my mom, “Well, we can cross that one off the list!”
I went home and never heard anything until I was at graduation practice. The assistant principal came up to me and said, “Congratulations on your new job!” I was confused. I told him I didn’t have a job. He said Heidelberg called and they hired you. It was exciting.
Pat Page is now seeing second generation students attending Heidelberg. She has worked as the administrative assistant for the School of Music & Theatre for 36 years. Pat is the 2010 recipient of the Jeannine Curns Distinguished Service Award.
