Music Education Major
I chose Heidelberg because my first step on campus immediately spoke “family” to me. I have made lifelong relationships on Heidelberg’s campus that have impacted my life and I am beyond thankful.
I majored in Music Education because I want to help guide my future students in their direction of success as my music teachers/professors did for me.
A major challenge I encountered while at Heidelberg was switching majors a little late in the game but still being determined to graduate in May of 2023 with my classmates. I handled this challenge by determination and the support of faculty, staff, classmates, friends, and family.
Above all, Heidelberg prepared me to experience anything and everything. There have been so many opportunities I have been exposed to, I will be forever grateful.
Outside of the classroom, I was involved in Delta Sigma Chi (4yrs), Tau Mu Sigma (2yrs), Ohio Collegiate Music Education Association (4yrs), Sigma Tau Nu (2yrs), Berg Events Council (2yrs), Greek Life Council (1yr), Concert Choir (4yrs), Chamber Singers (4yrs), Marching Band (4yrs), Symphonic Band (3yrs), Jazz Band (2yrs), and Heimonics (2yrs).
My favorite extra-curricular activity was Marching Band because playing under those Saturday night lights with close friends and classmates cheering me on was an experience I will never forget.
One faculty or staff mentor or advisor who impacted my ‘Berg experience is Dr. Greg Ramsdell because he embodies what I want to be like as a music educator. He is extremely inspiring to all his students and wants to help them make a difference in the world.
My advice to new freshman me would be take in every opportunity given. Branch out and try new things because you never know what could happen.
My favorite Heidelberg memory is truthfully this past year. So many core memories have been made, and it is hard to select just one!
My plans after graduation are to begin my career as the 5-12 Vocal Instructor at Lakota Local Schools.
