As a founding member of The Firelands Symphony Orchestra, Tamara spent 34 years as Principal Flute.  She recently retired from the FSO and now plays flute/piccolo for the Lakeside Symphony. She substitutes in area orchestras as needed.  As an active freelance musician, Kagy manages and plays with the HIGH FREQUENCY Flute Quartet, a highly regarded ensemble that plays in the Firelands region. The quartet was honored with a commission of “Pomp and Circumstance”, for flute quartet from Alry Publishers for their performance at the B.G.S.U. Firelands Commencement. Tamara has a private studio that has produced high levels of students, scholarship winners, teachers, and professional flutists. She is the adjunct instructor of flute at Terra State Community College where she also teaches in the Humanities department.  She enjoys participating in community and high school pit orchestras. She is an active educator, coaching flute students in sectionals and master class. Her most influential teachers have been Judith Bently, Michel Debost, Gary Schocker, and Nina Assimakopoulos. She received her Master of Music, Flute Performance degree from B.G.S.U.
