Audition/Interview Requirement for Theatre Concentrations and for Scholarship Consideration
Bachelor of Music in Performance
Vocal: 2 contrasting selections performed from memory
- At least 1 foreign Language
- At least 1 Class A solo/ensemble list
Instrumental:
- 1 Lyrical Selection (full movements)
- 1 Technical Selection (full movements)
- Both pieces need to be from the OMEA class A list.
- Major scale 4#/4b*
- 2 octave chromatic scale
(*Percussion: 4 rudiments from American Standard Rudiments)
Bachelor of Arts in Music Education
Vocal: 2 contrasting selections performed from memory:
- At least 1 Class A solo/ensemble list
Instrumental:
- 1 Lyric passage of at least 3 minutes in length
- 1 Technical passage of at least 3 minutes in length
- At least 1 piece from the OMEA class A list.
- Major scale 4#/4b*
(*Percussion: 4 rudiments from American Standard Rudiments)
Bachelor of Arts in Music and Popular Music Concentration
Vocal: 2 contrasting selections performed from memory
- At least 1 Class B or above from the solo ensemble list
Instrumental:
- 1 Lyric passage of at least 2 minutes in length
- 1 Technical passage of at least 2 minutes in length
- Both pieces need to be Class B or above from the solo/ensemble list
- Major scale 2#/2b*
(*Percussion: 4 rudiments from American Standard Rudiments)
Theatre Audition Requirements
Musical Theatre:
- A musical theatre song (pre-1970), 90 seconds or less
- A musical theatre song (post-1970), 90 seconds or less
- A 60-90 second monologue
- We do not require a dance audition
- Can submit a dance audition video
Acting:
- A classical/modern monologue (written before 1960), 60-90 seconds
- A contemporary monologue (written after 1960), 60-90 seconds
Production:
- Portfolio Review
- Interview
