Mascot information

Heidelberg University is looking for three (3) energetic individuals to display their immense Berg Pride bySiggy servingas Siggy, the Student Prince mascot, for the 2012-2013 Academic Year. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The individuals hired to portray Siggy (The Siggies) will work on a rotation basis, covering a wide variety of events.  These events will include athletic contests, admission recruiting events, academic gatherings and other festivities and conferences on campus. 


The Siggies will work with the Director of Wellness and Healthy Living (Kayela Tidrick), Director of Student Engagement (Andrea Wensowitch) and Director of Athletic Marketing and Information (Jeff Garvin) to plan out the events to attend.  Each event will need one person in the mascot costume and one person to serve as a guide. At events, The Siggies will interact with the crowds, pose for pictures and create a sense of school spirit.


The Siggies will be tasked with the general maintenance and care of the costume.




·         An overwhelming amount of Berg Pride

·         Height between 5’8”–6’0” and weight between 175–225 lbs.(because of the size of the costume)

·         Must be able to handle high temperatures.

·         Must be able to handle physical activity for extended periods of time.

·         Must be available on weeknights and weekends.


Each Siggy will receive a $500 stipend  ($250 book scholarship to be used at the Heidelberg bookstore per semester).


How To Apply:
Complete the attached application and return it to Kayela Tidrick, Director of Wellness and Healthy Living, inside the fitness room in Saurwein Health and Wellness Center by Wednesday,  September 12, 2012, at 4:30 pm. 


Tryouts will be Wednesday, September 12, from 5:00 pm-6:30 pm in Saurwein Health and Wellness Center. Please bring a completed application with you.  

What to Wear at Tryouts:

Wear comfortable presentable athletic clothes (shorts and a t-shirt) and shoes.


Selection Criteria:

An audition process will be held for all students interested in becoming one of The Siggies.  Please prepare 30-90 seconds of “interactions” that you would have as Siggy.

Mascots will be selected based on their appropriateness and entertainment value.
