Who can use the Stoner Health Center?

Any full-time undergraduate or graduate student may use the Health Center in CC 141 regardless of the individual’s health insurance plan. A student does NOT have to be enrolled in the student health insurance offered by Heidelberg University in order to use the health center. There are NO physician or office visit charges sent to any insurance company. Supplies such as medications may be charged (for a nominal fee) to your student account.

What are the hours of operation for the Health Center?

A physician is available to care for the students each early morning. You must register to see the physician for illness, injuries, etc. in person between 7:15 AM – 8:00 AM Monday through Friday. The Health Center remains open until 3:15 PM and is staffed by nursing personnel throughout the day. After the fall semester begins, the Health Center is open Monday through Friday from 7:15 AM –3:15 PM when classes are in session.

What services are available at the Health Center?

Stoner Health Center offers services typically available at most family doctor’s offices. Physician and nursing services consist of illness and injury care, first aid, lab services such as strep screens and urinalysis, and vaccination administration. The Health Center is licensed by the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy and a formulary of prescription and over-the-counter medications are available.

What are the credentials of the staff members?

Two licensed internal medicine physicians are contracted by the University to care for the students free of charge. The Director of the Health Center is an RN with an undergraduate degree in allied health administration and a graduate degree in counseling. A licensed practical nurse (LPN) acts as the Assistant Director of the Health Center. A licensed clinical counselor is available for free mental health services for the students. Appointments are available on Mondays and Thursdays. Additional counseling hours will be available early in the fall semester by a graduate intern student in the Heidelberg University Master of Arts in counseling program.

We suggest that you pick up a brochure at the Health Center that explains the services available and the phone numbers and email addresses to contact staff members.
