Civic Engagement

Civic Engagement promotes engagement of students, faculty and staff in the creation of relationships with schools, for-profits, non-profits and governmental organizations leading to direct volunteerism, service-learning, and responsible citizenship through electoral participation.

The Director of Civic Engagement, Paul Sittason Stark, amd the Civic Engagement Graduate Intern, Laurie Kaltenmeier, coordinate events and projects for students to embrace volunteerism and service within Seneca County as students prepare to be global citizens.

Berg Service Challenge

Semester Long
Students, Faculty, Staff, Alumni and Friends are encouraged to make a commitment to service by dedicating ten hours of their semester to volunteer for a specific organization. Upon committing, a pin is given to each individual as a reflection of their service through Heidelberg. Each volunteer is asked to wear this pin during their service to recognize their connection to Heidelberg University. It also serves as a keepsake of an enriching experience that many of our friends have held together.
