Dr. Ellen Nagy serves as the director of Faculty Student Advising and the University Assessment coordinator. In this capacity she oversees the faculty student mentoring program, AIM Hei, and coordinates all assessment activity for the university. 

Dr. Nagy earned her bachelor’s degree from Colorado College, her master’s degree from Bowling Green State University and her Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in German Language and Literature. She lived in Salzburg, Austria, for two years. Her research interests are in German Studies, especially the history of teaching German at American universities as well as academic and career advising issues. Her publications include the book, Women in Germanics, 1850-1950, published by Peter Lang, and articles focusing on the role and representation of women in the German studies profession. Dr. Nagy has also published (with Heidelberg colleague Kristen Lindsay) a book providing a hands-on approach to navigating the first year of college, So I Got Into College, Now What? Her research has been presented at state and national conferences including the Central States Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, the National Association of Academic Advisors,  the National Association of Colleges and Employers, the Ohio First Year Summit and the Ohio Academic Advising Association.

Dr. Nagy plays the violin in the Heidelberg University-Community Orchestra and competes in half-marathons and triathlons. She lives in Fremont, Ohio, with her husband. Their son is a sophomore at The Ohio State University, and their daughter, Hannah, is currently a senior at Heidelberg University.
