This course examines the role of statistics in the design, conduct and interpretation of biological research. Beginning with descriptive and inferential statistics, it proceeds through one and two-sample hypothesis testing, analysis of variance, linear regression, correlation, goodness of fit and contingency table analyses. Special attention is directed to the proper use of statistical software in data exploration and analysis. The course does not count towards the Biology major or minor. Prerequisite: MTH 115 or 121 or above.
