Heidelberg University and the Ritz Players are collaborating to stage the monster musical comedy “Young Frankenstein,” based on the Mel Brooks classic of the same name. Chris Tucci, director and professor of theatre at Heidelberg, is directing the production with choreography by Kathy Miller and musical direction by Micheal Anders. The accompanist is Greg Ramsdell, director of choral activities and assistant professor of music at Heidelberg.
Performance dates are 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31, Nov. 1 and Nov. 2 with a 2 p.m. matinee on Nov. 3.
“Theatre-goers can expect a heavy dose of classic Mel Brooks comedy with all of the beloved characters from ‘Young Frankenstein’ the movie right up on stage,” Tucci said. The show will feature such memorable Broadway tunes as “The Transylvania Mania,” “He Vas My Boyfriend” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz.”
A number of Heidelberg students have been cast in major roles in the production, including Adam Hoover as the Monster, Elle Dutton as Inga and Darcianne Allen as Elizabeth Benning. Katelyn Hough, Marina Richley, Kristina Kamm, Morgan LaFlure, Makenzie Dietrich, Dorothy Faris, Zachary Orwig, Sam Stone, Ben Calvert, T.J. Wasserman and A.J. Lacefield will perform as singers and dancers.
The cast also includes Charles Groth as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, Jeffery Buchanan as Igor, Seth Innis as The Hermit and Dr. Victor von Frankenstein and Kelly Addis as Ziggy. Members of the chorus include Joshua Harris, Angie Smith, Sandy Kimmel, Tamra Andrews and Amy Berger.
