Soprano Carol Dusdieker, a member of the faculty of the School of Music at Heidelberg University, will give recital at 7 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 7) in Brenneman Concert Hall. Fellow faculty member Margarita Denenburg will accompany Dusdieker on the piano.
The recital is titled “Lineage: Nadia Boulanger and her American Protegees,” and features works by Boulanger, John Duke, Leonard Bernstein, Thomas Pasatieri and Mark Blitzstein.
Boulanger was French composer, teacher and conductor who taught many of the leading composers and musicians of the 20th century. Also a performer on piano and organ, she was the first woman to conduct many major orchestras in America and Europe, including works by Aaron Copland and Igor Stravinsky.
