Arrowhead Park Library Services

Library Resource Room

The Library at the Arrowhead Park Campus is located in the Great Room. It contains a basic reference collection, an assortment of textbooks, as well as some items for use in specific classes. The library materials include such things as dictionaries, company directories, almanacs, and some study guides. It maintains subscriptions to newspapers, current news magazines, and business periodicals.

Heidelberg Campus Library Resources

Maumee students have access to the main campus library, Beeghly Library, and its resources either from the Arrowhead campus computers or from home or work. The library's web site provides access to a wide variety of information resources including numerous research databases, library catalogs and web resources.

Borrowing Library Materials

In order to borrow items from Beeghly Library, the other OPAL or OhioLINK libraries, and to access the online research databases from non-campus sites, students and faculty must have a current Heidelberg ID with a registered barcode. ID cards are issued at the fall orientation sessions at the main campus, or you can ask the Arrowhead Park staff to register you. For additional help with registration, contact the Circulation Department at the main Heidelberg Campus, 419-448-2104 or e-mail library@heidelberg.edu. With your registered Heidelberg ID card you can go to other OhioLINK college and university libraries and borrow materials from their collections.

Beeghly Library Catalog - OPAL

To identify books, media, and journal titles held at Beeghly Library, search the Beeghly Library catalog. Search the other OPAL libraries and the OhioLINK catalog for items not owned by Heidelberg. Use the Request Item command to have books and audio visual materials sent to you at the Arrowhead Park campus. Pay close attention to due dates and place a renewal request before the items are due to avoid having to pay overdue fines. The circulation loan policies are strict, so be careful!

Magazine and Journal Articles

Periodicals at Maumee

The following periodicals are located in the Maumee Library:

  • Business Week
  • The Chronicle of Higher Education
  • Discover
  • Harvard Business Review
  • Journal of Accountancy
  • Newsweek
  • Scientific American
  • SmartMoney
  • Time
  • U.S. News and World Report

The Beeghly Library catalog identifies the periodical titles owned by Heidelberg. Articles from the main campus can be copied and sent to you. Many journal and magazine articles are now available online through the Research Databases. The Electronic Journal Center (EJC), Lexis-Nexis Academic, and Academic Search Complete are particularly rich sources of online articles. Use the Electronic Journal Finder to locate specific journals that are available online. You will need to identify your college, and input your name and the bar code number on your Heidelberg ID to use most of the research databases.

Interlibrary Loan Service

Use the appropriate Interlibrary Loan form to request hard to locate books and for periodical articles that are not online. The material will either be sent to your email address if electronic, or sent to the Arrowhead campus. Photocopies do not need to be returned, but books will have a due date marked on the book wrapper. Ask the Arrowhead staff to see that the books are returned to the Heidelberg campus. For further information contact the Interlibrary Loan Department by e-mail interlib@heidelberg.edu or phone 419-448-2108.

Reference Services

The Beeghly Library reference staff also provides assistance to students at the Arrowhead Park campus. Please feel free to contact the Reference Librarians by email at library@heidelberg.edu or phone 419-448-2246 with your questions. The reference department also supervises Interlibrary Loan operations (interlib@heidelberg.edu or 419-448-2108) and can answer your questions about this service. The reference librarians welcome faculty requests to meet with classes to introduce students to resources and research strategies pertinent to your discipline.
