E-Book Collections

Most electronic books are digital copies of print books. Beeghly Library provides access to many e-books through its catalog, OPAL, which provides a link directly to the title. Some of these titles may be “checked out” and others may allow limited downloading.

Thousands of books in the public domain (copyright free) are available for free downloading, though these titles tend to be older. See the end of this list for some of those websites.

NetLibrary- Provides full-text books purchased by Beeghly Library for online use. Covers a wide variety of subject areas and includes many recent titles.

OhioLINK Electronic Book Center - Offers the following collections and is a gateway to other sources.

Safari Computer and Technology Titles- Provides recent electronic books in computer science, business, information technology and related areas.

Electronic Theses and Dissertations Center- Provides the full text of masters’ theses and doctoral dissertations by graduate students in participating Ohio colleges and universities.

Mental Measurements Yearbook - Descriptive information and critical reviews of commercially available standardized tests as found in the print Mental Measurements Yearbook. Tests in Print- serves as a bibliography of commercially available standardized tests in English that are in print. It provides links to the reviews in the Mental Measurements Yearbooks. Full-text of both of these sources is available to Heidelberg students and staff with a current ID.

Google Book Search- This service provides links to some full-text versions of books and many full-text previews and book summaries. It also provides links to library holdings and book sellers for thousands of titles.

Project Gutenberg- The first producer of free electronic books. Find more than 28,000 online books in its catalog, with links to thousands of more in other sources. Most of these titles are older, copyright-free books.

Online Books Page - Provides access to more than 35,000 free online books.

Internet Public Library: Online Texts- Lists links to numerous sources of online books and other material.
