"Music is the exaltation of poetry.
Both of them may excel apart,
but surely they are most excellent when they are joined,
because nothing is then wanting to either of their proportions;
for thus they appear like wit and beauty in the same person."
- Henry Purcell
This year, the theme of the Heidelberg University Concert Choir’s program is British Invasion, a deliberate reference to that time in the mid-1960s when America seemed to be completely enthralled with all things British, particularly their music.
The Heidelberg Concert Choir's program will feature works that have a connection, direct or indirect to our friends across the pond. Hear works by British composers, or compositions based on texts by British writers. Other connections may be more fanciful, but the music itself will be glorious!
"After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music."
