Bataille Earns All-American Honors

Greencastle, Ind. – March 13, 2010 – Senior sprinter Judy Bataille (Felicity, Ohio /  Felicity-Franklin)of the Heidelberg University women’s track and field team finished in fourth place with a time of 7.08, in the 55 meter dash at the 2010 Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.

DePauw University is the host institution of the championships in Greencastle, Ind.

Yesterday, Bataille won heat two of the preliminaries in a time of 7.10. Heading into today's finals she had the fourth fastest qualifying time. Her spot in the finals guaranteed her All-American accolades.

Bataille is in her senior year academically and has represented the Berg for three seasons. She is made her third consecutive appearance at indoor nationals in the 55-meter dash and brought home two championships and All-American honors. Her indoor success joins her All-American honors in the 100-meter dash on the outdoor track a season ago.

Her trip to the All-American podium marks the second ’Berg athlete to do so this year. Bataille joins senior long jumper Julius Higginbotham (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria)as All-Americans for second-year head coach Keith Roberts Jr.

The Ohio Athletic Conference was represented well in the 55-meter dash, as Wilmington College’s Callen Martin earned the title with a finish of 6.98, which marked Division III season’s best along with breaking the track record.
