TIFFIN, Ohio—The Heidelberg University women’s tennis team hosts Ohio Northern University in an Ohio Athletic Conference match Wednesday in Tiffin, Ohio. The match is slated for 3:30 p.m.
Heidelberg (4-5, 2-0 OAC) swept Muskingum University, 9-0, yesterday in New Concord. Sophomore Deidre Potter (Chillicothe) and freshman Katie Strahan (West Chester/Lakota East) each dropped just two games, while Strahan and doubles partner senior Jackie Earl (Crestline) recorded a shutout.
Strahan leads the team with a 6-3 singles record at the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 positions. The No. 1 doubles tandem of senior Kayla Gerber (Clyde) and Potter also boasts a team-best 6-3 record and has won four straight matches.
ONU (13-4, 3-0 OAC) has won six straight matches, including two of the last three by sweep. Kesli Wurm is 17-6 at Nos. 2, 4, 5 and 6 singles, while Kristen Timperman is 13-2 at Nos. 4, 5 and 6. Carly Olmstead and Lauren Rife own a team-best 9-3 record in doubles action.
Following Wednesday’s match, Heidelberg will remain in Tiffin to host Marietta College in an OAC match Saturday.
