TIFFIN, Ohio—The Heidelberg University women’s tennis defeated Marietta College today in an Ohio Athletic Conference match at the Lakewood Racquet Club in Lexington, Ohio. The Berg went 5-1 in singles action and swept doubles play.
Sophomore Deidre Potter (Chillicothe), freshman Katie Strahan (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East), senior Jackie Earl (Crestline), freshman Sara Potts (Clyde) and freshman Melissa Herrera-Ortiz (Moline, Ill./Moline) each won singles matches for Heidelberg (5-6, 3-1 OAC), with Earl taking a clean 6-0, 6-0 victory.
Cate Gisser won the lone match for Marietta (0-8, 0-4 OAC).
The doubles tandems of Potter and senior Kayla Gerber (Clyde), Strahan and Earl, and Potts and Herrera-Ortiz also won their matches.
The Berg returns to the courts Tuesday to face OAC foe Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea.
