Westerville, Ohio – April 24, 2010 – The Heidelberg University women’s tennis team traveled to Westerville, Ohio this afternoon to compete against Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Otterbein College. The Berg was defeated, 9-0.
The loss brings the Berg’s overall record to 4-10 and 2-5 in the OAC, while Otterbein advances to 17-3 and 8-0.
The Berg was unable to pick up a win off the undefeated Cardinals, but had a few close matches.
Emily Naugle (Mansfield, Ohio / Shelby) returned to play today after being out with an injury. She fell in her first set to opponent Megan Anders, 6-1, but was able to force her second set to a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-4).
Jackquelyn Earl (Crestline, Ohio / Crestline) pushed her match against opponent Sarah Jenney into a third set tiebreaker. Earl lost her first set, 4-6, but returned to take the win in set two, 6-3. Jenney took the tiebreaker (1-0 (10-5)).
The Berg continues play with a road match Wednesday, April 28, against OAC opponent John Carroll. The match is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.
