'Berg Tops Muskingum 8-1

New Concord, Ohio – March 20, 2010 – The Heidelberg University women’s tennis team was victorious over Ohio Athletic Conference foe Muskingum University with a score of 8-1.

The Berg improves to 3-4, 1-1 in the OAC, while Muskingum falls to 0-5, 0-1 against league foes.

Heidelberg won five of its six singles matches and all of its doubles. 

First putting points on the board for the Berg, while picking up victories in doubles were Elizabeth Kurtzman (Mansfield, Ohio / Shelby) and Emily Naugle (Shelby, Ohio / Shelby) (8-5). The duo of Kayla Gerber (Clyde, Ohio / Clyde) and Darcy Young (Green Springs, Ohio / Clyde) continued their dominance, posting an 8-5 victory. It was the fourth-straight win in doubles for Gerber and Young.

Rounding out double victories was Linda Miller (Garfield Heights, Ohio / Garfield Heights) and Jackquelyn Earl (Crestline, Ohio / Crestline) with an 8-3 win.

Kurtzman earned her second single victory of the year (6-0, 6-1). Gerber followed Kurtzman posting her sixth win of the year (6-1, 6-7 (7-9), 1-0 (10-6), while Naugle finished the three-match streak with a 6-2, 6-2 victory.

Earl won her fourth singles match on the year with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout, while Miller picked up first single victory on the year (6-4, 6-1).
 
Heidelberg is back in action Wednesday, March 24, when it hosts the College of Wooster at 4:00 p.m.
