Hilton Head, S.C. – March 12, 2010 – The Heidelberg University women’s tennis team suffered a 5-4 setback to Young Harris College in its final spring trip match. The loss drops Heidelberg’s record to 2-4 on the year.
The duo of sophomore Kayla Gerber (Clyde, Ohio / Clyde) and sophomore Darcy Young (Green Springs, Ohio / Clyde) got the Berg on the scoreboard at second doubles, posting an 8-3 victory. It was the third-straight win at second doubles for Gerber and Young.
With the threat of rain looming, the singles matches were adjusted to pro sets.
Gerber returned at second singles and recorded a 8-4 win. Gerber stays undefeated on the year.
Junior Emily Naugle (Shelby, Ohio / Shelby) followed with an 8-2 victory, while Young picked up an 8-6 win.
Heidelberg returns to action Saturday, March 20, when it travels to Muskingum University.
