TIFFIN, Ohio—Sophomore midfielder Kelsey Hogan (Cincinnati/Mariemont) scored a goal in the 21st minute to lead the Heidelberg University women’s soccer team to its second consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference win tonight, a 1-0 victory over Baldwin-Wallace College in an OAC match at Mayer Field in Tiffin, Ohio. The match wrapped up a three-game home stand for the Berg.

The win improves Heidelberg to 5-7-1 overall and 2-2-0 in the OAC. The loss drops the Yellow Jackets to 8-6-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the OAC.

A B-W foul set up Hogan with a set piece from 25 yards out, and Hogan let loose with a well-placed shot near the upper-right corner of the goal. The goal was her team-leading fifth of the season. The Berg is 2-0-1 when Hogan scores, including a win against The College of Mount St. Joseph, in which she notched her second career hat trick.

Hogan had another look at the net late in the second half when she set up for a free kick, but her shot was punched out by B-W’s Gabrielle Bodo. Hogan totaled seven shots, including four on goal.

Junior goalkeeper Molly Schriber (Sidney) collected four saves in 90 minutes of action.

Bodo made three saves in 90 minutes for the Yellow Jackets.

Heidelberg made efficient use of its offense, as B-W led in shots, 18-9, and held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

The Berg returns to the pitch Saturday, Oct. 15 when it travels to Alliance to face the University of Mount Union in an OAC match in the first game of a men’s and women’s doubleheader at 4:30 p.m.
