Hogan Scores ‘Berg Win

Cincinnati, Ohio – September 11, 2010 – Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week freshman Kelsey Hogan (Cincinnati, Ohio / Mariemont) scored the game-winning goal in the Heidelberg University women’s soccer 1-0 victory over the College of Mount Saint Joseph.

Heidelberg improves to 2-2 overall, while the Lions drop to 1-3-1 on the season.

In the 73rd minute, Heidelberg put the only point of the game on the board when Hogan placed the ball past the Mount’s goal keeper. This marked the freshman sensation’s fourth goal of the season.

Offensively, Heidelberg put out the second-highest shooting performance of the 2010 season with 15 shots lead by Kelsey Hogan who tied for a game-high of five shots. Also contributing was senior Carolyn Gross (Centerville, Ohio / Centerville) who had a shot on goal, while junior Kristen Schneider (Evandale, Ohio / Mount Notre Dame) had two on goal.

The shutout is the first of the season for the Berg and is contributed to the defense.

Leading the way was sophomore Michelle Gross (Centerville, Ohio / Centerville), freshman Taylor Rambo (Powell, Ohio / Olentangy Liberty), and junior Rachel Johann (Evansville, Ind. / Evansville Reitz).

The match was also highlighted by solid performances by Heidelberg’s duo of goaltenders. Sophomores Molly Schriber (Sidney, Ohio / Sidney) and Carrie Moran (Lakewood, Ohio / Lakewood) combined for nine saves on the day.
