Tiffin, Ohio – January, 26 2011 – Two members of the Heidelberg University women’s soccer team have been voted on the 2010 Onslow Classic Soccer Association NCAA Division III Women's Academic All-Ohio Team. Junior midfielder Kristen Schneider (Cincinnati, Ohio / Mount Notre Dame) earned a spot on the second team, while senior defender Katie Klein (Milford, Ohio / Milford) landed on the third team.
Earning her second academic postseason award of the year is Klein. She also tabbed a spot on the Academic All-OAC team. Klein served as an anchor on the Berg’s defense, while playing in all 19 games for Heidelberg. In the classroom, Klein holds a 3.61 gpa as an athletic training major.
Schneider is earning her second career postseason award after having a break out year in her junior campaign. She also earned a spot on the Academic All-OAC squad. A finance and accounting major with a 3.85 gpa, Schneider had a career-high 18 points (seven goals and four assists), which stood second on the team.
The 2010 season showed promise for the Berg's future. Heidelberg’s nine wins marks the most under fifth-year head coach Nick Spell since he took over in 2006.
