Three Voted to Women's Soccer All-OAC Team

Austintown, Ohio – November 11, 2009 - Three members of the Heidelberg University women’s soccer team were recognized with postseason accolades by the Ohio Athletic Conference. Junior forward Carolyn Gross (Centerville, Ohio / Centerville) earned a spot on the All-OAC Second Team, while junior defender Katie Klein (Milford, Ohio / Milford) and freshman midfielder Shara Perry (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Davidson) were named to the All-OAC Honorable Mention Team.
 
Gross led the team with 15 points courtesy of seven goals and an assist while starting in every game for the Berg. Four of Gross’s seven goals resulted in a game-winning goal which was tied for second best in the OAC.

Klein, earning All-OAC honors for the second-straight year, played an imperative role with Heidelberg achieving six shutouts on the year. The anchor on Heidelberg’s back line, Klein also contributed on offense with five shots on goal along with an assist.

Perry has already made a huge impact as a freshman. She earned four points including two goals on 27 shots, while starting in 17 games.

Heidelberg concluded the season at 7-12-1 overall and 4-5 in the OAC, while earning the number sixth spot in the OAC tournament. This marked the first tournament berth since 1999.
