'Berg Closes Out Season in OAC Quarterfinals

University Heights, Ohio – November 2, 2009 – The Heidelberg University women’s soccer team was defeated in the first round of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament by John Carroll University with a score of 1-0.

Neither team in the first half could find the back of the net despite having four shots each, resulting in a 0-0 tie at halftime.
 
In the second half, John Carroll scored the lone goal of the game in the 67th minute when Caitlyn Walton placed a free kick from outside the box to the upper left corner of the net for the eventual game-winning goal.

Heidelberg was led by Shara Perry (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Davidson) who earned three shots with one on goal. Katie Klein (Milford, Ohio / Milford), Carolyn Gross (Centerville, Ohio / Centerville), and Krista Blake (Geneva, Ohio / Geneva) each had a shot with a shot on goal. 

The Berg’s Molly Schriber (Sidney, Ohio / Sidney) had a team-high six saves in the game.

The Berg finishes its season with an overall record of 7-12-1, 4-5 in OAC play, while earning the number sixth spot in the OAC tournament. This marked the first tournament berth since 1999.
