Wilmington, Ohio – October 10, 2009 – The Heidelberg University women’s soccer team was defeated by Wilmington College with a score of 5-0. Heidelberg drops to 5-7-1, 2-1 OAC, while the Quakers improve to 7-3-2, 2-1 in the OAC.
Sarah Watters got things started for Wilmington in the 29th minute as she snuck a ball to the far post of the net past Heidelberg’s goal keeper Lauren Sweeney (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria Catholic) making the score 1-0, which led to the eventual game winning goal.
Adding insurance for the Quakers was Kortnie Kulis, Britney Beck, Alex Hesson and Jenna Curio with a goal each.
Heidelberg’s Katie Klein (Milford, Ohio / Milford) had two shots with two shots on goal. Krista Blake (Geneva, Ohio / Geneva) had a team-high three shots with one shot on goal.
The Berg’s Lauren Sweeney (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria Catholic) and Molly Schriber (Sidney, Ohio / Sidney) accumulated 7 saves for the game.
Heidelberg looks to get back in the win column as they host John Carroll University, Tuesday October 13, at 7:00 p.m.
