Tiffin, Ohio – September 20, 2009 – Heidelberg University (1-5-1) and Millikin University (6-2) played a closely contested women’s soccer game at Mayer Field through regulation. But the visiting Big Blue took control early in overtime to post a 1-0 win.
Millikin’s Brttany Belrichard controlled a throw-in on the far right side of the box and sneaked a shot by Heidelberg’s Lauren Sweeney (Elyria, Ohio / Elyria Catholic) just 44 seconds into overtime for the game-winning goal.
For the game, Millikin held a slim 12-10 advantage in shots, while the Berg led the way in corner kicks 7-3. Sweeney finished the game with five saves, while Molly Schriber (Sidney, Ohio / Sidney) had one.
Finishing with a shot on goal for the Berg was Shara Perry (Hilliard, Ohio / Hilliard Davidson), Krista Blake (Geneva, Ohio / Geneva), Jennifer Pfau (Lewis Center, Ohio / Olentangy), Kristen Schneider (Cincinnati, Ohio / Mount Notre Dame) and Carolyn Gross (Centerville, Ohio / Centerville).
