Cross Hits the Century Mark in Saves; 'Berg Women Fall to Otterbein, 5-0

Head coach Nick Spell and the Heidelberg University women’s soccer team traveled to Westerville to take on the Cardinals of Otterbein College on Saturday October 13. The Cardinals scored three goals in the first half and another two in the second half to defeat the Berg, 5-0.

Despite the five goals, freshman goalkeeper Julie Cross (Bowling Green) tallied ten saves against Otterbein. Cross has collected ten or more saves in three games, and has amassed 103 saves already in her freshman campaign.

Sophomores Kristen Smith (Lancaster/Bloom Carroll) and Leeora Mohler (Marysville) recorded one shot on goal for the Berg.

Freshman Shannon Angel (Hudson) also tallied a shot on goal against the Cardinals.

The Heidelberg women (2-10-1, 1-4-0 OAC) return to the pitch on Wednesday, October 17, when they take on Ohio Northern University. The game against the Polar Bears will be played at Mayer Field and is a ‘Berg Pride Game for the Heidelberg women. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
