BEXLEY, Ohio - The Heidelberg women’s soccer team traveled to the campus of Capital University to continue Ohio Athletic Conference competition. Two second half goals from the Crusaders was an obstacle that the Berg offense could not overcome as they fell, 2-0.
The Heidelberg defense kept the Crusaders at bay in the first half with the help of senior keeper Molly Schriber, who finished with seven saves. The Crusaders fired six shots in the first half but none snuck into the Berg goal.
However, three minutes into the second half, Capital found their first goal of the evening when Becca Catmill netted a pass from Claire Quinn. Catmill wasn't finished for the evening as she scored the second Capital goal in the 67th minute.
The Berg was led offensively by sophomore Shannon Angel who tallied three shots against the Crusaders. Leading goal scorer, Christina Neal was silent in Bexley, but sophomores Nicole Johnson and Mary Jacobs along with junior Leeora Mohler each claimed one shot.
With the loss, the Berg ladies move to 2-10-1 overall and 1-2 in the OAC.
The Student Princes will continue conference play on Wednesday, October 16 as they host the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets. Kickoff from under the lights of Mayer Field is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
