TIFFIN, Ohio—The Heidelberg University wrestling team will close the 2011-12 regular season Friday, Feb. 17 when it hosts Ohio Northern University in the final Ohio Athletic Conference dual match of the season. The match is slated for 7:30 p.m.
Prior to the match, Heidelberg will recognize seniors Jerry Knapp (Columbia Station/North Olmsted), Tom D’Alessandro(Mayfield/Mayfield Heights), Eric Phillips (Garfield Heights), and Jake Weisman (Bexley) in a pre-match ceremony.
The Student Princes (4-7, 2-2 OAC) are coming off a 44-3 win Tuesday over Baldwin-Wallace College. Six Student Princes won bouts and three more won by forfeit. Sophomore Ian Gillespie (Cincinnati/Elder) led the way, recording a pin in less than a minute, and Knapp.
ONU (11-4, 4-0 OAC) clinched at least share of the OAC regular season title Tuesday after defeating Muskingum University, 38-6, in Ada. The Polar Bears won all eight of its bouts, in addition to two forfeits.
Following Friday’s match, the Berg will host the 2012 OAC Wrestling Championship on Saturday, Feb. 25 beginning at 9 a.m.
