TIFFIN, Ohio—The Heidelberg University wrestling team will participate in two tournaments this weekend as the grapplers compete at the Wheaton (Ill.) Invitational in Wheaton, Ill. on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27-28 and the Ashland Open on Saturday in Ashland, Ohio. This weekend’s competitions are the first split squad events of the season.

The Student Princes last wrestled at the Alma (Mich.) College Open in an unscored tournament where junior Andy Lovins (Clinton Township, Mich./Lake Shore) claimed the 197-pound individual championship with a 4-0 record.
In addition to Lovins, sophomore 141-pounder Chris Osborne (McComb) and senior heavyweight Jerry Knapp (Columbia Station/Olmstead Falls) each finished in third place with identical 3-1 marks.
Following this weekend’s split squad tournaments, the Berg will return to Ohio Athletic Conference competition when it faces Muskingum University in a dual match on Feb. 7 in New Concord.
