Three Headed to Nationals in LaCrosse

Tiffin, Ohio – March 7, 2011 – The Heidelberg University wrestling team will have three representatives at the 2011 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships at the LaCrosse Center in LaCrosse, Wis. March 11-12.

Returning for the third consecutive year is senior 165 pounder Matt Curley (Brecksville, Ohio / Lakewood), while junior 133 pounder Tom D’Alessandro (Mayfield Heights, Ohio / Mayfield) returns for the second straight year and sophomore Andrew Johnson (Weston, Ohio / Ostego) will make his first appearance at nationals of his career. All three are on a quest for their first All-American honors.

D’Alessandor boasts an overall record of 14-13 and earned a trip to nationals by successfully defending his 133 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Feb. 26. Johnson also earned an automatic bid to nationals via his first OAC title at 149 pounds. He enters nationals with an overall record of 19-13.

Curley was the runner-up at 165 pounds and earned a spot at nationals via the league’s at-large bid. He leads the team this season with a record of 30-6.
