Curley Named OAC Wrestler of the Week

Austintown, Ohio – January 17, 2011 – Heidelberg University senior Matt Curley (Brecksville, Ohio / Lakewood) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week for the week of January 17, 2011.

Over the weekend, Curley helped lead the Berg to a 3-2 showing at the Budd Whitehill Duals hosted by Lycoming College in Lycoming, Pa. Curley finished the outing with a perfect 5-0 record, highlighted by four major decisions at 165 pounds.

In a 20-15 ’Berg setback to no. 12 York College, Curley recorded a 10-4 decision. He returned against no. 29 Messiah College with a 15-7 major decision to assist in Heidelberg’s 23-19 win. Heidelberg posted a dominating 38-8 win over King’s College and Curley continued his winning ways with a 20-7 major decision.

In a close 19-18 ’Berg loss to no. 28 Wabash College, Curley was victorious in his bout by way of an 11-3 major decision.

Finally, Curley helped lead Heidelberg to a 30-12 win over no. 21 Springfield College with a 10-2 major decision.

The five wins extended Curley’s winning streak to 11 matches, and increased his team-leading overall record to 18-1.
