Tiffin, Ohio – January 19, 2010 - The nationally ranked Heidelberg University wrestling team increased its Ohio Athletic Conference dual winning streak to 19 following a 38-3 victory over visiting Baldwin-Wallace College tonight, January 19, 2010. Heidelberg’s winning ways dates back to the 2006-07 season. For the year, Heidelberg stands at 7-6 overall and are 4-0 in the OAC, while the Yellow Jackets are 4-11 and 0-3.
Heidelberg won nine weight classes en route to the win. Leading the way with falls was freshman Delian Schneider (Tiffin, Ohio / Columbian) at 125 pounds in 5:57, while fellow classmate Andrew Johnson (Weston, Ohio / Ostego) wasted just 56 seconds en route to his pin at 149 pounds.
At 165 pounds, junior Matt Curley (Brecksville, Ohio / Lakewood) came on strong late and earned a point for riding time to post a 21-6 technical fall.
Registering major decisions en the win was Tom D’Alessandro (Mayfield Heights, Ohio / Mayfield) (133), Ed Bizorik (Bellevue, Ohio / Bellevue) (184) and Jerry Knapp (Olmsted Falls, Ohio / Olmsted Falls) at heavyweight.
Rounding out the victors for the Berg was Sam Delpra (Chesterland, Ohio / West Geauga) (141), no. 4 Zach Mizer (Canton, Ohio / Perry) (157) and Dan Jonhenry (Berea, Ohio / Berea) (174).
Heidelberg continues its quest for its fourth OAC Regular Season Title in the last five years next Tuesday when they entertain Ohio Northern University at 7:30 p.m.
