A native of Grand Ledge, Michigan, Patrick Wright comes to the Heidelberg University coaching staff from the University of Missouri via Grand Ledge High School. In high school, Pat was a four-time state qualifier, placing three times at three different weight classes. He finished as a runner-up as a senior.
As a sophomore at Grand Ledge, Wright traveled to the Fargo Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota and became a National Freestyle Champion.
After graduation, Wright choose the University of Missouri to continue his wrestling career.
At Mizzou, Wright wrestled at 157 and 174-pounds, earning a national ranking at both weight classes. The Tigers were Big 12 Conference Champions in Patrick's senior year, when he wrestled to a 22-5 record.
In his junior year, Wright helped guide Mizzou to a team championship at the Ken Kraft Midland Championship, hosted by Northwestern University in Illinois.
