WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Senior Sophie Goobic began her final season in the tricolor with a first place finish at the Bluffton Invitational followed by an eleventh place finish at the Calvin Invitational a week ago. Today, Goobic claimed another first place finish at the Otterbein Invitational as the Heidelberg women’s cross country finished third overall against a field of 17 teams.
Goobic ran the women’s 6k in a time of 23:35.1 to take top honors.
Freshman Dani Blum had another stellar performance at Otterbein with a 13th place finish and a time of 24:41.1.
Sophomore Lorin Conti and freshman Allie Dresser rounded out the Berg’s top performers in Otterbein clocking times of 25:06.1 and 25:07.4 respectively.
In Westerville, the Heidelberg men were led again by sophomore Brad Palocko who ran the men’s 8k in a time of 27:09.6. As an individual, Palocko finished 18th.
Sophomore Avery Gatchell clocked a time of 28:02.3, which was enough for 38th place as the Berg men’s cross country team finished 12th overall.
The Heidelberg men and women will return to the course on Friday, October 4 after taking a week off to rest and prepare for the All-Ohio Meet. The All-Ohio Meet will be ran in Cedarville, Ohio.
