Women's Basketball Helps Out in Clyde

On Saturday September 15, the Heidelberg women’s basketball team participated in a coaches clinic in Clyde, Ohio. The Heidelberg ladies were honored with the opportunity to demonstrate various drills and skill building techniques from different collegiate coaches.

Sharing their insight were coaches from the University of Michigan, Xavier, West Virginia University, Kentucky, the University of Virginia and Georgia.

Essentially, what the Heidelberg lady roundballers were doing is performing the various drills that a coach would instruct them to do. Their execution of the drills gave various high school and college coaches in attendance the ability to see how the drills are done so they are able to take it back to their team and hope to improve.

“Not only did the coaches in the audience benefit from the clinic, but as a team, we benefitted greatly as well,” said junior guard Megan Miller. “It was such an honor to be able to talk and run drills with some of the more well-known coaches in the country."

Head coach Marcie Alberts wishes she could have been in attendance that evening, but could not because of NCAA regulations. However, she is grateful her girls had the opportunity they did to participate.

“The coaches shared many useful tips with us that will help us be successful in the upcoming season,” Miller added.

It was an experience that will help propel the Heidelberg women’s basketball team through pre-season training into the 2012-2013 season, which starts on November 16, 2012.
