‘Berg Looks to Even Up at Earlham

TIFFIN, Ohio—The Heidelberg University women’s basketball team continues a nearly 1,800 mile road trip this week as it faces Earlham (Ind.) College in a non-conference game on Tuesday, Nov. 22 in Richmond, Ind. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m.

Heidelberg (1-2) is coming off a loss to No. 4 William Paterson (N.J.) University in the championship game of the Emmanuel (Mass.) College Saints Invitational. Sophomore guard Emily Giel (Burton/Burkshire), who made the game-winning free throw with five seconds on the clock in a 70-69 win against Emmanuel, and junior guard Jordan Ickes (Wooster/Triway) were both named to the all-tournament team.

Giel averaged 9.0 points per game and passed for six assists, while Ickes averaged 8.5 ppg., passed for five assists of her own and pulled down four rebounds over the two-day tournament.

Despite a pair of losses at The College of Wooster’s Nan Nichols Classic, Earlham’s (0-2) Bria Snead and Nikki Darrett are scoring 12.0 and 11.0 ppg. and Darrett leads the team with 8.0 rebounds per game.

Following its return to Tiffin, the Tri-Color will enjoy a week layoff before completing a four-game stretch away from Seiberling Gymnasium at Kenyon College on Nov. 30.
