Miller Recognized for her Academics

Austintown, Ohio – March 10, 2011 – Senior forward Jenny Miller (Tiffin, Ohio / Clyde) of the Heidelberg University women’s basketball team earned a spot on the 2011 Ohio Athletic Conference Academic Team. It marks her second academic postseason award of her career. A year ago, she earned a spot on the honorable mention team.

The faculty athletic representatives of the 10-member OAC schools voted on the selections. To be eligible one must carry at least a 3.25 cumulative grade points average, be a starter or key reserve and be in at least their second year at the institution.

Miller, majoring in education with a grade point average of 3.63, led the Berg in scoring for the second year in the row with 14.1 points a game, which stood sixth in the conference. She led the defense with 39 steals, while hauling in a team-best 8.2 rebounds an outing, which stood fourth in the OAC. Her 40 blocks topped the team and the league. Miller etched her name in the Heidelberg history books as she became the 13th player in the history of the women’s program to eclipse 1,000 career points.

Heidelberg, under the guidance of third-year head coach Marcie Alberts, finished the year at 1-24 overall and 0-18 in the OAC.
