Alliance, Ohio – December 19, 2009 –The Heidelberg University women’s basketball team drops to Mount Union College with a score of 76-47. The Berg falls to 2-7 overall, 2-3 in the OAC, while the Purple Raiders stays perfect at 9-0 overall, 5-0 in conference play.
The Purple Raiders established a 23-7 run with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Mount Union would withstand the lead and would go into halftime with a 35-21 lead.
In the second half, the Berg would give great effort but would eventually fall to the Purple Raiders 76-47.
Junior Jenny Miller (Tiffin, Ohio / Clyde) led the way for the Berg with 12 points to go along with three rebounds. Senior Stacey Barker (Grove City, Ohio / Grove City) scored eight points and racked up two boards, while senior Betsy Shrider (Mount Blanchard, Ohio / Riverdale) had a team-high nine rebounds. Junior Kristen McConkey (New Carlisle, Ohio / Tecumseh) contributed with six points and three rebounds.
Heidelberg returns home where it is 2-0 on the season, when it hosts Bluffton University, Tuesday, December 22, at 6:00 p.m.
